Judy needed a table to hold her television, and all the electronics that go with it. She sent me a drawing of what she was looking for along with the dimensions. Going over the plans with her, she asked if I could make the top and base contrast each other for a two toned look, which I was happy to do.
I love how walnut and cherry complement each other and if you follow my builds (which you do, right?) you know that I use them together, frequently. Here, I used pine and cherry plywood. Cherry plywood for the table top and pine for the shelves legs and aprons. The pine got a walnut stain.
I love this table and really enjoyed the build. I designed it so that the slats are the lower support for the base, leaving out the lower apron, that and the simple tapered legs really make this table say “custom”.
Who else needs a custom table?

tapered legs
apron for lower slats
loose tenon construction
just checking square
glueing up, still square
other side needed glue too
top apron loose tenon
the top (currently upside down) glue up

it now stands on its own
